Continuing their trend of establishing new enterprises within their stores, Walmart launched Nail Bar & Co. in May 2018 at its Steelyard Commons location in Cleveland, Ohio. This latest venture allows customers to experience specialized and creative treatments which include manicures, pedicures, and intricate nail art. With the market for nails services now worth billions, Walmart is making sure it isn’t missing out on the action.
Spanning an impressive 1,200 square feet, the salon nestled in Walmart’s grocery department offers a treasure trove of nail treatments. Boasting eight individual stations plus a waiting area and retail section, you can choose from a varied selection of services such as basic manicures, pedicures, on-trend nail art, or luxurious gel nails. Prices start at a reasonable $20 for your manicure and reach up to $60 if your heart desires a delightfully indulgent gel mani.
Walmart, known for its retail prowess, is now boldly venturing into other arenas – their nail salon being a testament to the company’s ambition. In 2017, as part of this venture, they opened the Walmart Health Centers chain of wellness clinics, alongside a myriad of other smaller providing businesses such as auto service centers, financial services and, of course, the hair salon.
Walmart’s growth is a direct response to mounting pressure from Amazon, who has been marking its footprint in the retail market. This necessitated Walmart to significantly bulk up their e-commerce divisions while broadening physical store outlets.
Shopping at Walmart’s Steelyard Commons location just got an upgrade, with the new nail salon providing customers with a service that combines convenience and affordability. This is part of Walmart’s larger mission to entice shoppers by offering additional services in addition to an expansive range of products.
