t nails for concrete

2023-06-27

With their distinctive tapered body and flat head, t-nails, also called rebar, are an immensely popular choice for fastening concrete. From big to small and long to short, there’s something for any application out there, and they all feature the same simple design. This clever structure permits them to be hand-driven with a hammer, and then keep the rebar firmly affixed in place.

When purchasing t-nails, you have the option to buy either galvanized or non-galvanized. The galvanized nails are given a protective coating of zinc to guard against rust and corrosion, whereas the uncoated options will succumb to weathering in the long run. While this may lead to certain disadvantages, both types remain suitable for use in concrete.

With a hammer, t-nails can be driven into the concrete at a 45-degree angle. The heads should be flush with the concrete’s surface; additionally, the nails should be roughly spaced 12 inches apart. After inserting the t-nails, rebar can be laid down on top of them, arranged perpendicular to them for maximum effectiveness.

Following installation, the rebar must be immobilized with wire or clamps. For the optimum grip, wrap the t-nails and rebar securely with the wire and use clamps to safely lock everything in position. After the concrete has dried, these bonds can be conveniently removed.

Necessary for most concrete projects, T-nails can be easily implemented and ensure a sturdier link between the rebar as well as the concrete. These nails can be procured at any home improvement store and are obtainable in both galvanized and non-galvanized models.
