When it comes to nails, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on what kind of look and feel you are after, one of the three most frequently used options – gel nails, acrylic nails, and shellac nails – may be perfect for you. Each has their own distinct advantages and drawbacks that should be taken into account before selecting the nail type of your choice.

Gel nails have become a popular form of manicure due to their strength and long-lasting durability – chipping and breaking are kept to a minimum. Unfortunately though, removing gel nails can prove to be a labor-intensive process, and without care, the natural nails can suffer as a consequence. The secret behind the success of gel nails lies in the curing part of the procedure; that is exposed to ultraviolet light which fuses the gel together.

Acrylic nails are a combination of monomer liquid and powder polymer that provides strength and longevity against chipping and breaking. Although these artificial nails are resilient, they can be challenging to remove and can harm the natural fingernails.

Applying shellac nails can bring you the advantage of toughness and resilience, being able to fight off chips and cracks due to its gel-and-polish concoction. Nonetheless, taking them off and undoing that protection can be hard, and the nails themselves can be compromised while in that process.
