Throughout the globe, wire nail factories can be found in a multitude of countries and regions. China, India, and the United States stand out as being some of the more notorious areas in which these factories exist.
In 2018, China accounted for almost half of the world’s wire nail production, producing 8,550,000 metric tons of nails. The majority of these wire nail factories were dense within the provinces of Shandong and Hebei, combining to make up 77% of the total production. Globally, there is no denying China’s extraordinary impact on the production and availability of wire nails.
In 2018, India blazed a trail as the second biggest manufacturer of wire nails on the planet. Boasting a staggering 4,320,000 metric tons of wire nail production, India was responsible for roughly 25% of the world’s total output. Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra played a major role in this achievement; together they yielded 70% of India’s overall production.
The US is no slouch when it comes to wire nails, clocking in as the third largest consumer of their production. Last year saw 1,830,000 metric tons come out of American factories – a full 10% churn of the world’s total. At the heart of this incredible output are Pennsylvania and Ohio, the two states that produced 70% of the United States’ full yield of wire nails in 2018.
