Our shop often gets inquiries about hammering into concrete, and while it’s certainly doable, there are a few prerequisites for the task.
Though concrete is supremely durable, it has a brittleness which can cause it to fracture quickly if not treated with care. Thus, when being driven into with nails, extreme vigilance is necessary to maintain the integrity of the material.
To anchor your nail into the concrete, begin by punching a hole slightly undersized compared to the nail. This will prevent the concrete from cracking when you drive in the nail.
Next, take the nail and carefully guide it into the hole with a gentle tap of a hammer. A light tap is all you need to get the nail to begin its journey – no need for heavy hits.
With one adept tap of your hammer, your nail is ready to be inserted. Exercise caution, though; a few too many strikes and you may encounter some cracked concrete.
So, there it is! Nailing into concrete could not have been easier. Keep calm and be patient, and you’ll effortlessly get your task finished.
